Bedford Modern School Year 13 student Charlie Brown is the 2008 MG Trophy Champion.

Brown, who registered five wins from his seven outings to take the crown, said: "Overall, I am delighted with this year's racing and winning the championship.

"I enjoy racing cars as you are always on the edge.

"Also, it involves grit and determination to win, and you have to keep on trying, whatever happens."

The MG Series opened at Donington Park in March where Brown recorded a brace of second place finishes.

The next stop was Silverstone where Brown came from behind to win the first race before repeating his success in race two.

At Cadwell Park, Brown again won both races by 22 and five seconds respectively, before turning his attention to Snetterton for the final meeting where he snatched a narrow 0.1-second victory in the first race.

The second race was cancelled due to heavy rain enabling Brown to be declared as the champion.
