Ian Draycott's 20th goal of the season ensured the Eagles didn't finish the week in abject misery on Saturday.
The seven days prior to this latest game, against Oxford City, had resulted in three games lost and no goals.
Due to other commitments, Paul Draycott is no longer available for the rest of the season, and Lee Howarth made just the one change to the line-up; putting Work Experience signing from Luton Town, Taylor Nathaniel, in at left back.
The 1st half saw both sides cancelling each other out for play to flow properly, but there were moments when a goalscoring opportunity popped up its head, and with 20 minutes gone, a move from one end of the pitch to the other nearly resulted in a goal.
A clearance from Tom Hole was a prelude to a series of passes between Junior McDougald and Ian Draycott before Graham Clark was set up with an opportunity, but the midfielder snatched his shot as the defence bore down on him and the ball went harmlessly wide of the right hand post.
Further attempts saw Ian Draycott denied by a mass defence after a corner and Jamie Cole, just before half time, narrowly missed the target with a 20-yard effort.
The second half was pretty much the same. Mike Armitt was brought into action ten minutes into the half when substitute, Jamie Brooks was set free down the right with the Bedford 'keeper saving a low shot.
Oxford took the lead on 64 minutes. A free kick was headed into the Bedford area, and with the defence rooted to the spot, Lee Steele took advantage to nip in to flick the ball past the exposed Armitt.
Despite their best efforts, the home side couldn't conjure up a meaningful response until six minutes from time. A free kick, on the left, was helped into the area by Phil Draycott, and Brother Ian took advantage of the hesitation in the Oxford defence to slide the ball into the net for the equaliser.
With two minutes remaining, Ian Draycott and Craig Daniel exchanged passes just outside the Oxford area. Daniel went for goal, but the sliding form of Andy Gunn blocked the shot, and that was it for the game.
Fortunately for Bedford, results went their way and the side are now two points above relegation. Bedford visit league leaders, Farnborough on Wednesday night.
