Bedford & County AC athletes shine

Bedford & County AC's Welsh International Matt Janes smashed the club's 10km road running record on Sunday, with a superb victory in the Leeds Abbey Dash.

Janes sprinted clear in the final 100m to record a magnificent time of 29.32mins as he beat almost 5,000 other competitors at the prestigious 10km race. His time was 16 seconds quicker than the previous record which he shared with Darren Deed.

Not to be outdone, Deed was also in action at the weekend, easily winning the London Cross-Country Championship at Hampstead Heath on Saturday.

Neilson Hall, meanwhile, will tomorrow compete for Great Britain in Japan at the Chiba Ekiden Relay.

These current exploits come just three weeks after the trio, along with team-mate Owain Matthews, won the ECCU National Cross-Country Relay Championship at Mansfield, which they added to the National 10km Championship they won in October.
