Viking Kayak Club members enjoy successful season

It was another good slalom season for Viking club members as they took titles and earned high places in the national ranking list.

The Canadian doubles pairing of Etienne Stott and Tim Baillie once again took the British title with wins at every domestic Premier Division event they entered.

They also recorded their best-ever result, a silver medal at the Australian Open, but missed out by a very small margin on competing in Beijing. However, they have already set their sights on London 2012.

In the K1 men's Premier Class, Jake Silvester, 16, continued to impress with a season and career best result of 14th at a recent event in Nottingham. It was also another competition where he was first in his age class. This is evidently a sign that his national ranking of 36th is already outdated and both the 2009 season and 2012 Olympics are looking very promising.

In the men's K1 combined Premier and Division One Veteran class (35+), Peter Parker, the club slalom coach, took the British Veterans title.
