Charity cash boost helps young Bedford designer set up stall by royal appointment
A fashion designer with big aspirations is setting up shop on London's Brick Lane – with a little help from Prince Charles.
Kiran Lall will open her stall at the end of the month after her label RedRock Fashion received a grant from The Prince's Trust.
And Kiran, 26, who lives in Somerton Close, Putnoe, is excited to have her designs on sale in the trendy fashion hotspot.
She said: "I feel really good about the project.
"I have been working on it for over a year and it has been going from strength to strength.
"I have had very positive feedback from local shops that have stocked my designs – in fact I went to make a delivery the other day and one shop had sold out.
"The project really has achieved so much in such a short space of time and setting up a stall on Brick Lane is the next step."
The budding designer studied fashion, print and textiles at Northampton University where she honed her skills and perfected her own designs.
Her unique range has become a firm favourite with local trend setters and some of Kiran's designs have even been spotted on celebrities including Skins star Megan Prescott.
But it was with the help of The Prince's Trust that Kiran was able to realise her dreams.
After receiving a grant from the charity, which was set up by the Prince of Wales, she was able to launch the RedRock Fashion website and sell her designs online.
But it is the move to Brick Lane that has been the highlight of Kiran's fashion career so far.
She said: "I sell primarily online but I am starting a regular stall in Brick Lane which is so exciting.
"As an independent fashion designer it is important to try and get as much exposure as possible and this move is really positive."
The Prince's Trust gives practical and financial support to selected young people aged between 14 and 30. The charity has helped more than 600,000 young people since it was founded in 1976 and supports 100 more each working day.
