Pulling out all the stops for Pudsey with host of fundraising events


Pupils at Harrold Priory Lower School have been singing their hearts out for charity, with a CD recorded in aid of Children In Need.
The record was created in a makeshift studio at the school and is based on the old folk song Green And Yeller.

Half the proceeds from sales will go to the BBC-supported charity.

A close shave helped raise more than £400 for the Children in Need coffers at Bedfordshire Pilgrims Housing Association.

Having sported a beard for the last 30 years, technical services manager Andy White left it to his colleagues to wield the razor blades and make some choice cuts.

Meanwhile, the bear necessities helped a quartet of Oakley ladies to raise money with their crocheting skills.
Cherry Howkins, Hilary Reade, Anne Tiley and Eve Harrison have created 901 Pudsey Bears, selling them at £1 each to children, and for £1.50 to adults.

Customers visiting Specsavers in Bedford witnessed a right 'p-lather' – as six members of staff got shaved. Between them they raised £1,100 for Children In Need and customers contributed another £150.
n Hippy hairdressers got into the charity groove by donning some 1960s threads.

Staff at Nicholas Anthony, in St Peter's Street, raised £160 by donating their tips from the day.

A relentless 14-hour rowing marathon raised more than £450.
Around 55 staff and gym-goers at Kempston Pool took it in turns to row continuously from 7am until 9pm.
