Bank offers food for thought on poverty

In Luton 1 in 4 children suffer from child poverty and research show that a further 20% of households are at risk of poverty. 10, 500 people are unemployed (0NS fig Oct 2011-Sep 2012).
The welfare reform changes are expected to increase the need in Luton and heavily impact on families. So the Luton Foodbank has been under development with various partners from the secular and different faiths on board working together to ensure no-one goes hungry in our town.

The role of the Foodbank will be primarily to provide emergency food supplies for people in crisis throughout the borough.
People are being asked to donate food and a list of food needed and points of food collection can be found on www.lutonfoodbank.org.uk.

The Foodbank also needs 1,000 people to donate as little as £2 a month to help to get the project running and also people to join as members. For information or to arrange a collection, contact Luton Foodbank on 07796603760.
