Dunstable mayor Patricia Staples will do the honours on Saturday (September 15) when she opens the new £350,000 facilities at Ridegway Lodge Bupa Residential Home.

To mark the event, staff are inviting the local community to a celebration summer fete with a demonstration of 15 birds of prey, featuring falcons, owls and hawks.

Guests will be entertained by a brass band, staff choir and games such as guess the teddy’s weight, hook-a-duck and splat the rat.

There will be various enticing raffle prizes including vouchers to spend at the local pub and nail salon.

Free strawberries and cream, plus other food and refreshments, will be served all day.

Following the investment, Ridgeway Lodge has new soft furnishings, furniture and floorings with an additional lounge leading into the garden, as well as a new reception area.

Home manager Sadie Porteous said: “We’re looking forward to giving the local community an opportunity to see the improvements and join in the celebrations of our opening summer fete.”
