For many, running a marathon is their proudest lifetime achievement, but one Dunstable man will run the distance of more than two marathons in one day this weekend.

Lee Moynes, of Crabtree Way, will run 55 miles from Bedford to Luton this Sunday (October 21) in aid of Keech Hospice and the Royal Masonic Trust.

Earlier this year, the 33-year-old ran half a marathon wearing a 20kg weight in preparation for the feat, and in 2009 completed a 24-hour endurance race.

Lee told the Gazette: “Everyone knows someone that has had cancer or needed a hospice, and I wanted to support a local charity – Keech do a fantastic job.

“This will be my last race. My body is suffering and I’m going to have to start taking care of it.”

He will run to all six Masonic Halls which house the 55 Beds-based Masonic Lodges, collecting 55 envelopes of sponsorship pledges.

He will complete the distance in a number of legs, pausing for very short pit-stops at Biggleswade, Ampthill, Leighton Buzzard and Dunstable before finishing at Luton Masonic Centre.

Lee has also corporate sponsorship from Slip End Garages Group of Luton.
