Arriva warns: Don't wait for us, we can't make it

8.30am: Bus services run by major operator Arriva have been largely cancelled today because of rapidly deteriorating conditions on roads across Beds and Luton.

Only an hour ago the operator was confident of being able to operate almost to normal levels, with only a handful of routes in question because of road conditions.

But after an hour of heavy snow, developing gridlock blackspots being reported across the area, and road conditions turning more dangerous, the firm has announced that services have been suspended and advised passengers to stay at home.

Arriva advises passengers to check with local services by calling 0844 800 44 11 but the lines could be very busy.
