Theatre group's new season starts with a wartime drama

A double helping of Ronald Harwood plays launches the 2008-09 season of the Dunstable Rep Theatre Club. The first play is Equally Divided, which will run from until Saturday, October 18.

Then, in November, the wartime drama The Dresser will be brought to life, in conjunction with Big Red Fun Bus and The Queen Mother Theatre, Hitchin.

Equally Divided tells the story of how world-weary spinster Edith comes to terms with her late mother's will. The will divides the family estate equally between her and her more glamorous and well-off sister, Renata, who has been married several times.

Director Alistair Brown said: "Edith has sacrificed her life to nurse her mother in the railway carriage home she has come to regard as a prison. In stark contrast, Renata, glamorous and married several times, has spent her life doing what she pleases.

"When the contents of Mum's will are made known, childhood rivalries between the sisters re-emerge. Yet Edith unexpectedly finds love and gets a 'life'."

Performances are at 7.45pm at the Little Theatre, High Street South, Dunstable. Ticket prices are £8 for members, £12 guests, and £5 juniors and students.
