Great granny in skydive bid for skatepark funds

A brave 73-year-old great-grandma from Houghton Regis to take part in skydive to get local kids a skatepark.

Brave Ross Williams will jump from a plane at 15,000 feet on June 19, to help raise money for the Houghton Youth Voice Experience and the Victims of Crime charity, which was set up by PCSO Sharon Ellis from Dunstable Police Station.

Ross, who is disabled, says she hopes to raise around £2,000.

The cash raised will go towards building a skatepark for youths in the town.

Ross, who lives in The Link, admits she is 'not good with heights' but couldn't think of anything else to do, to raise money.

She had already banked more than £200 from sponsorship and hopes to raise around £2,000 from the jump.

Anybody who would like to sponsor Ross should call her on 01582 519327, or send cheques, payable to Sky-Dive (R Williams) 18 The Link, Houghton Regis, Bedfordshire. LU5 5HQ.

See the full story on Ross's skydive in Wednesday's Dunstable Gazette, priced 40p.
