Advance notice given of M1 closures

The M1 Junction 9 northbound exit slip road to the A5 and Dunstable at Friar's Wash will be closed overnight on Thursday, October 16.

According to the Highways Agency, the closure between 10pm and 5am is required for gantry works, communication and barrier works. Traffic wanting to exit the motorway at Junction 9 will have to use Junction 10 instead.

The Highways Agency has also given advance warning of the complete closure of carriageways on October 20, 21 and 23. The M1 northbound will be closed between Junction 6 and Junction 7 on the nights of Monday October 20 and Tuesday October 21 between the hours 10pm and 5am for gantry construction.

The closures will also include the slip roads from the M25 in both directions for the M1 northbound at M25 Junction 21. Traffic from the M1 northbound at Junction 6 will be diverted via the A405 north to M10 at Junction 1 and then via the M10 northbound to M1 Junction 7.

M25 clockwise traffic for the M1 northbound will be diverted to Junction 21A and then via the A405 north to the M10 at Junction 1 and then as before. M25 anti-clockwise traffic will be pre-diverted at Junction 22 and via the A1081, A414 to M10 at Junction 1 and then as before.

The M1 southbound between Junction 7 and Junction 6 will be closed overnight on October 23 between the hours 10pm and 5am. Traffic will be diverted from M1 Junction 7 via M10, A405 to M25 Junction 21A and M1 Junction 6.
