Mayoral election takes place in May

Dunstable town councillor Mike Mullany has been nominated for election as the town's next mayor, for 2010/2011.

Mr Mullany, one of the representatives for Dunstable Town Council's Watling Ward, is currently the deputy mayor.

The nomination was agreed by members of the full council, at their meeting on Monday night.

Councillor Claire Meakins-Jell, another Watling Ward representative, was nominated for election as the next deputy mayor.

This year, the mayor-making ceremony will take place at the Superdrug Conference Centre, on May 17.

Dunstable's current mayor is Councillor Patricia Russell.
