Police appeal for witnesses

A thief snatched a bag from a 74-year-old woman as she loaded shopping into her car at a Dunstable store.

The tan-coloured bag was stolen from her supermarket trolley in the Tesco car park, Skimpot Road, just after 12 noon on Sunday, June 1.

As she loaded the car, a black VW Polo drove by and a man grabbed her bag.

Inside the bag were cash, keys, bankers' cards and personal documents.

PC Caroline Ayers said: 'Luckily, the pensioner was not injured during the incident, but the outcome could have been much more serious.

'I believe there were lots of people in the car park who could hold vital information relating to this incident, and it is these people I would appeal to. I urge them to contact police and tell us what they saw.'

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call PC Ayers, in confidence, on 01234 841212 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
