...without leaving their Bupa care home

Elderly residents of Bupa care homes in Luton and Dunstable will get a taste of the Big Apple when they set sail for New York on a virtual cruise this week.

The pensioners, many of whom are too frail to go on holiday, will take a whirlwind tour of the world through music, games and food organised by staff.

Choosing New York as their first stop, five homes in Luton and Dunstable are hosting events, from a Breakfast at Tiffany's film show to an Independence Day garden party, and are inviting older people in their local communities to join them.

On July 1, Capwell Grange Nursing Home in Addington Way, Luton, is hosting a Manhattan cocktail bar and black tie event with Elvis music.

And on July 2, Ridgeway Lodge Residential Home in Brandreth Avenue, Dunstable, is throwing an Independence Day party with karaoke, fancy dress and American style food.

Greenacre Residential Home in Brewers Hill Road, Dunstable, is hosting an American-themed summer fete on Saturday, July 4.

After their visit to New York they will then be calling at South Africa, Australia, India and Ireland throughout July as each home is transformed into a passenger cruise ship

Find out more about joining in the fun by calling the Bupa World Cruise hotline on 0113 381 6306 or emailing cruise@bupa.com
