No phone service on Tuesdays and Thursdays until late February

A backlog of work has led to temporary cutbacks in a Central Beds phone service for housing and council tax benefit queries.

The telephone enquiry service will not operate on Tuesdays and Thursdays until February 25.

Central Beds Council says after the merger of the revenue and benefits system, the service is recovering from a five-week shutdown, followed by the festive holidays.

A 'considerable' backlog has to be cut by late February, so that the annual council tax billing process runs smoothly.

The service is available on other weekdays.
