VIDEO: Pruning vines at Warden Abbey Vineyard
Volunteers are helping with the grape harvest.
Each week budding viticulturalists travel to Warden Abbey Vineyard to prune some of the 4,000 vines.
The 5.5 acre site is between Old Warden and Cardington. It was originally created by the monks of Warden Abbey in medieval times and in 1986 it was replanted by the Whitbread family.
It is now run as a community vineyard by the Bedfordshire Rural Communities Charity in partnership with Shuttleworth College.
The vineyard provides all of the tools and volunteers are shown what to do.
Pruning sessions are taking place every Tuesday and Friday in January and February. Additionally there will be a Saturday session on January 26.
