Some badly weathered roads greeted Icknield Road Club riders at Beds Road Club's Hilly 10-mile time-trial on Sunday.

Forty riders took part in this event and Icknield's Tim Davies came home second in 25.05mins, beaten by Team Lutterworth's Sam Hayes by just one second.

Two Icknield members rode the track at the Milton Keynes Bowl on Saturday. John Friend competed in the novice section and finished bravely after attacking with one lap to go, but slightly mistimed his effort and was caught to finish a little behind the bunch.

Tim Davies rode in the senior race of 82 starters, which was disrupted by two big crashes.

Davies ended up in the bunch, just outside the points.

Near-freezing but sunny conditions greeted the three Team Sanjan Design riders who were competing in their first event of the new season, on Sunday, the Kettering CC 20-mile time-trial.

The Northamptonshire-based course started near Islip and followed a rolling route along the A6116 and the A43 before turning back to Islip via a minor road that included a steepish hill at Warkton, made harder by the icy easterly wind.

Fastest of the trio was Stuart Tarry who finished sixth fastest with a time of 50.10mins.
