Lutonian hauls himself off the canvass to win on his debut

Gutsy Michael Devine showed great character to climb back off the canvas to win his first ever professional fight.

Nicknamed Chunky, the 20-year-old Lutonian showed his mettle by bouncing back from his third round knockdown to stop Belfast fighter Michael Harvey later in the round.

Devine had weighed in at 9st 9lb for his lightweight contest against Harvey, who tipped the scales at 8st 9lb for the four three-minute round bout.

The Irishman enjoyed a huge height advantage, but Devine got off to a breathless start bullying Harvey across the ring.
