Luton golfer claims top-15 finish

Luton golfer Carl Duke finished joint 12th in the latest stage of the Jamega Professional Tour held at Magnolia Park over the weekend.

On the par 73 course, Duke started in fine style with a birdie on the first, before parring the next eight holes. Disaster struck on the back nine though as he hit a double bogey on the 10th, and then dropped another shot at the 11th.

Back-to-back birdies hauled him to even par again, but another bogey on the 16th saw him finish the day at one over.

In his second round, Duke once again started with a birdie, and then did the same on the third to move to one-under.

Holes 11 and 12 produced further birdies, but a bogey on the 17th saw him finish with a round of 70 and two-under for the tournament, six shots behind eventual winner Jordan Smith from Woodcote Park GC.
