Legendary Hatters midfielder David Preece was immortalised at Kenilworth Road on Saturday when the New Stand was renamed after him.

Preece, who made almost 400 appearances for the Hatters between 1984 and 1995 and was part of Luton's Littlwoods Cup winning side in 1988, sadly passed away in July last year aged just 44.

Meanwhile, a whole host of former Town favourites rolled back the years as a Luton Legends XI beat an Arsenal Pro-Celebrity side at Kenilworth Road on Saturday.

The occasion marked the 20th anniversary of Luton's greatest ever moment, when they beat mighty Arsenal 3-2 at Wembley to lift the Littlewoods Cup.

Ricky Hill, who was named man of the match, was delighted with his reception.

He said: "I don't know about rolling back the years, but it was fun to be here.

"It was lovely. It's a heart-wrenching moment when you come back.
"The fans always showed me a lot of love and that continues.

"It's another generation, maybe two generations, since I started my career in '75 and it seems like the memories have been passed down.
"I'm glad I could be here and be a part of the day.

"There's a lot of good performances out there, Tim Breacker, Kingsley Black, Rob Johnson and the list goes on.

"We don't do it (meet up) enough, but from time to time we get together.

"It's like a common bond. When you come back together it's like you've never been away, it's a dressing room thing."
