Nathaniel nets twice in comfortable victory
Luton Town U18s registered back-to-back victories for the first time this season as they eased past Barnet 3-1.
A brace of penalties from Taylor Nathaniel and a strike from Janoi Donacien were enough to see off the Bees and produced a result that pleased coach Martin Prickett.
He said: "I am pleased with the result and almost happy with the performance.
"Going forward we were much brighter and quicker than we have been in recent weeks, we played at a really good tempo today.
"I was disappointed with our defending as I thought we gave them far too much time on the ball in our final third and managed to give them a goal as well, at least it gives us something else to work on.
"Overall though I was happy with our attacking intent and it's another step in the right direction for the group."
The Hatters started quickly and almost took the lead after two minutes when Adam Watkins chipped the Barnet keeper, but his effort bounced to safety off the post.
The next chance fell to Barnet following a defensive lapse but Lewis Kidd was equal to the task.
A strong run from Nathaniel resulted in his cross being handled in the area and he made no mistake with the subsequent spot kick.
Midway through the half, Alasan Ann played a sublime reverse ball to Jack Wood who was brought down. Nathaniel stepped up to net penalty number two and double the Hatters' advantage.
Early in the second half a well-delivered free-kick from Ryan Dasilva enabled Donacien to score from close range and end the game as a contest.
Poor defending allowed Barnet to claim a consolation, but it made little difference to the outcome and the damage could have been even greater if it wasn't for Barnet's keeper who saved well from Ann and Mason Blake.
This weekend the Hatters host Brentford.
HATTERS: Kidd, James, Lacey, Donacien, Nathanniel, Deeney, Wood, Barker, Dasilva, Watkins, Ann, Blake, Tavernier, Fenner, Yamfam, Carney.
