Two mums are giving parents food for thought with their new “baby-led” weaning recipe book, offering advice on a plate.

Edlesborough mum Emma Ogden-Hooper, 35, of The Pastures, and friend Felicity Bertin both took the baby-led approach to weaning their own sons.

It’s all about offering solid foods to babies ready for weaning and giving them more control by letting them feed themselves – rather than spoon-feeding them with pureed and mashed food.

Now the mums have put together more than 150 tried and tested tasty recipes in Yummy Discoveries – The Baby-Led Weaning Recipe Book.

The healthy recipes are easy to adapt with “adult add-ons” so that the whole family can enjoy them.

And there are generous helpings of advice , too.

Emma, who has one son, three-year-old Ethan, has a background in professional recruitment.

And Felicity, of Hemel Hempstead, whose son Lucas is also three, is an osteopath, and a lecturer at the British School of Osteopathy.

Emma said: “We just wanted to share our experiences in a way that could help other parents.”

> Published by Robert Hale Ltd, the book is out now in paperback, price £9.99.
