A little bit of festive magic will be floating as the Dunstable Christmas Sparkle launches this Saturday December 6.
The day-long event is expected to get everyone in the Chistmas mood, and will begin with festive treats at Dunstable Market Square from 9am until 3pm
The Salvation Army Band are playing inside the Quadrant shopping centre from 9.30am until 1.00pm and pantomime lovers will be in for a special treat when the cast of Robin Hood take over Costa from 10.00am until 10.30am.
There will be children’s entertainment at Specsavers through midday while Grove Park will be transformed into a a funfair from 2pm to 7pm, with Christmas crafts, stalls, and a giant Santa’s chair.
The famous christmas float will also be back, leaving Wilkinsons car park at 11am and parading through the main roads until finishing at Asda Grove Park at 3.30pm.
A spokesman for Central Beds Council Highways team said: “If you are travelling through Dunstable via the main roads between 11am and 3.30pm on Saturday, December 6, please allow for disruption and longer journey time.
“There will be no road closures or traffic diversions but there will be a slow moving vehicle along the route – which will begin at the Grove Theatre, move along High St North through the Wilkinson’s Car Park, Priory Church, the Tesco roundabout at Skimpot Road/Poynters Road and back along the A505 to Sainsbury’s and ASDA. If you want to see the float make sure you arrive ahead of time.”
