Church’s plan for clubhouse

Plymouth Brethren Christian Church has approached Eaton Bray Parish Council in a bid to open up a church at the village’s near derelict Sports and Social Club building in The Rye.

A representative from the church addressed a parish council meeting about the possibility of buying the building for their church. They planned to use one section for the church and the other for community use.

The group were told they would only be able to lease the building as it stands on a village green. It was proposed that they come back to the council with a more detailed plan. The Plymouth Bretheren is an evangelical Christian movement called Britain’s strictest and most reclusive sect. Members rarely interact with the wider community. Watching TV or movies or listening to music is banned.
