£100,000 of Asian jewellery stolen in major heist in Luton

Thieves made off with over £100,000 worth of items from a jewellers during a major heist last weekend.

BJ Pattni Jewellers in Dunstable Road, Luton, was raided during the early hours of Sunday, March 26.

At around 5.20am, the offenders – described as two men – broke into the property by damaging a wall, before leaving shortly afterwards in the direction of Oak Road with a bag containing their haul.

Det Con Jason Wheeler, investigating, said: “A huge amount of highly valuable Asian jewellery was stolen from this small family business, and I am keen to trace those responsible.

“The shop’s owners and staff members are understandably very upset about the burglary, and I want to hear from anybody who may have been offered a large amount of Asian jewellery in the last couple of days.

“CCTV footage is being reviewed along with forensic evidence taken from the scene and we are doing all we can to find those responsible, but we really need the public to come forward with any information which could assist us.”
