A 35-year-old man was left with severe facial injuries following an attack in a Dunstable car park on Thursday afternoon.

The assault took place at around 1pm in a residential parking area in Southwood Road.

A white man of Mediterranean/Arab appearance, in his early 50s, 5ft 10ins tall, of average build, wearing a dark baseball cap, green jacket and blue jeans appeared to be assaulting a woman in the car park.

When the victim intervened a struggle took place. During this, the attacker used a knife to slash the victim several times across the face and head before biting him twice on the nose.

The attacker then got in a car and drove away.

Det Con Mirian Khajavelidze, investigating, is keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the assault or may have further information about the attacker.

Det Con Khajavelidze said: “This was an appalling attack which was carried out in broad daylight, in a residential area, and I hope that somebody is able to come forward to help us with our investigation.

“I’d particularly like to hear from a man who was walking his dog nearby at the time of the incident as he may hold some valuable information.”
