Two charged over historic sex crimes

Police investigating a series of alleged historic child sex offences have charged two men.

Charlie Jones, 76, of Maidenbower Avenue, Dunstable, has been charged with a total of nine counts, including two counts of rape, four counts of indecent assault, and one count of buggery.

John Burden, 49, also of Maidenbower Avenue, has been charged with a total of 15 counts, including six counts of rape and seven counts of buggery.

The men have been remanded in custody and will appear before Luton Magistrates’ Court this morning (Friday).

A police investigation into the allegations remains ongoing and a hotline has been set up for members of the public.
