More than 300 guests attended a gala event at Luton’s Venue Central for Diverse FM’s annual awards ceremony. There were nine categories including Student of the Year, Role Model of the Year and Volunteer of the Year.

Among those recognised were Joe Flemons – whose apprenticeship at Diverse FM has led to a contract with Capital Radio – Rokib Miah, Chelsea Idrees, Hanad Abukar Abdi and Nadieer Ahmed.

Lord Lieutenant Helen Nellis, Luton North MP Kelvin Hopkins and Luton mayor Cllr Dave Taylor were among the VIPs invited. The evening also featured a fundraiser for four charities - Human Appeal, Cancer Research UK, refugees in Calais and Luton Foodbank.

Prospective Police & Crime Commissioner candidate Kathryn Holloway said: “There was so much genuine young talent, all focussed on what will undoubtedly be some deservedly bright futures as a result of their involvement with Diverse FM.”
