Weatherfield Academy, Dunstable, held its annual Enterprise Day, with students in Years 10 and 11 working in teams to meet a new challenge based on a commercial activity.

Each group was supported by volunteers from a variety of business backgrounds. They formed a company with a name and logo related to the theme for the day.

Their main task involved working for an interior design company bidding for the contract to design and furnish a pupils’ common room in a new school building.

The groups were expected to decide on a name and logo for the business and complete a package to bid for the contract, including a model and portfolio showing design ideas, budget and health and safety issues for the room.

The winning company was Imaginative Designs comprising Philip Atkins, Becky Hart, James Forrester and Jade McCabe. Their tutors were Eve Meager and Anne Lee.

Among those supporting the initiative were The Watling Street Club, Dunstable Downs Rotary Club and DRM Business Training Consultancy, who donated prizes and a trophy.

Further backing came from Commonfield Services, sponsors and business partners with Weatherfield Academy.
