Members of the public are being encouraged to attend a charity extravaganza to raise money for Macmillan and Pete’s Fighting Fund.
The fund was set up by Pete Hilliard’s friend Helen Mead, following his third diagnosis of cancer in 18 months.
Helen, 50, of Sundown Avenue, wants to raise money to help get Pete fit enough so he can climb Machu Piccu in aid of Macmillan Cancer Relief.
The event at Creasey Park on Saturday, July 4, is open to everyone and the Old Gits football matches will begin at 4.30pm and the evening event will be at 7.30pm with a raffle and auction.
Prizes include a signed Chelsea football shirt, a football signed by Manchester United, a spa pamper day for two and an executive box at Luton Town Football Club.
Pete, 55, of Capron Road, said: “We are looking for anyone who remembers George Best swivel soled boots and him playing for Dunstable Town.
“Anyone who saw Alan Ball’s white boots or Kevin Keegan’s perm. Even those who shed tears with Gazza and swore at Maradona.”
