It came from Taylor Wimpey South Midlands and enabled the hospice to offer glow sticks, UV paint, torches and T-shirts to those taking part.

Keech spokeswoman Lynn Russell said: “The atmosphere was amazing and the money from Taylor Wimpey meant everyone could really shine bright on the night.”

The 10km walk, which started at 7pm, began and ended at the hospice, giving its 500 participants an opportunity to see the modern building for themselves and laying to rest many common misconceptions about hospices.

Lynn added: “At Keech we believe no-one should have to face life-limiting illness alone. The hospice also provides care for patients at home, in school and hospital, so donations like this enable us to care for more people who need it.”
