Staff at the Wilko store in Ashton Square, Dunstable, raised £600 for their regional charity of the year, Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, during October.
Activities were topped off with a hair-raising Hallowe’en event. The team swapped their usual red uniforms for fangs, capes and witches’ hats to give customers a fright.
Customers brave enough to venture to the store were entertained by employees’ gruesome garb, with many making donations to the good cause as they shopped.
Clive Spencer, store manager of Wilko in Dunstable, said: “We are really thrilled that October was such a good month for fundraising. It showed that where there’s a Wilko, there’s a way to get spines tingling and raise some much-needed funds for our charity of the year.”
