The children of St Giles Church in Totternhoe performed a special version of the Nativity from the perspective of the angels who announce the news of Jesus’ birth.
Set in the 21st century, the angels were concerned about the conditions in which Jesus was born – so they cleaned up Bethlehem for him.
The Church Road church played host to the modern take on the Christmas story in front of the congregation on Sunday, December 16.
The children invited the audience to sing along to a specially-written alternative version of Jingle Bells, with lyrics such as: “Jesus came, bringing love, If you’re big or small. Grand or poor, good or bad, God’s love comes for all. Hey!”
The message of the performance was that ‘God sent Jesus to Earth for everyone – wherever they are, however they live.”
