The hosts had gone behind to Jordan Ayew’s goal on 13 minutes, but recovered to level just after the half hour mark through Jake Gray’s debut strike for the club.

In the second period, Luton took the game to their recently relegated from the Premier League opponents and were in front themselves thanks to Cameron McGeehan’s close-range effort.

Villa defender Jores Okore then comically put through his own net on 66 minutes as Hatters went through to earn a second round at home to Leeds United.
