The hosts found themselves 1-0 behind on just seven minutes when Gareth Evans took advantage of a defensive mix-up to hammer home.

Town striker Craig Mackail-Smith then netted from the penalty spot after Josh McQuoid had been fouled to draw his side level.

However, Pompey stole the points at the death when Matt Tubbs pounced on a rebound to leave Luton without a win in the league so far this season.
