Dunstable town centre will get the first ‘pop up shop’ in Beds, Herts or Bucks on September 19 as part of a nationwide business initiative in the run-up to Christmas.
With funding from the Dunstable Joint Committee, Dunstable Town Council has been working with Pop Up Britain to bring an innovative retail concept to Dunstable.
In the three months leading up to Christmas, the location will give small businesses the chance to have a town centre presence for two or four weeks at a time.
A spokesman for Pop Up Britain said: “Not all businesses have the financial clout to take on a shop single-handed.
“That’s why we stepped in to offer a co-working, co-funded space for brands to experiment with physical retail, test the market and gain face-to-face customer feedback.
Councillor Terry Colbourne said: “Pop Up Dunstable is an exciting opportunity for small businesses that don’t have a presence on Dunstable’s High Street to give it a go at minimum cost and risk – and Dunstable Town Council is proud to be leading on this.
“I would encourage anybody who runs a small business, be it from home or on the internet, to give this a try!”
