Electrical goods store and website Comet went into administration on Friday, but it is not yet known which of the 236 shops will close.

The Dunstable store in White Lion Retail Park in Boscombe Road employs 15 full and part time members of staff.

Administrators Deloitte said it intends to keep stores trading during the administration while they try to find a suitable buyer for the retailer. The accountants “temporarily suspended” Comet gift cards and vouchers while they “assess the situation”, prompting riots in some Comet stores by frustrated customers. A total of 6,611 jobs are at risk in the company, which was founded in 1933.
