The start date is looming for work on a new “speculative” project which will create a multi-million pound distribution centre in Dunstable, and could bring around 550 new jobs to the town.
Workmen should move onto the 32-acre Boscombe Road site, formerly the base for Renault Trucks, on Monday, September 30.
Prologis UK, which owns and develops industrial sites, plans to build two centres there. The team previously redeveloped the nearby former Bedford Trucks site.
The first phase of the latest project is to create a 310,000 sq ft building. The project is said to be one of the UK’s first speculative industrial developments since 2008, and has attracted a great deal of interest, although no decision has yet been taken on who will occupy the centre.
The plan is that the second phase would create a 358,000 sq ft building.
