The first Hockliffe Community Games takes place on Saturday, August 31 at Kilby Road Hockliffe, between 1pm and 3pm – and everyone is invited!
Following last year’s successful Hockfest ’12 event and inspired by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Hockliffe residents will come together to take part in a day packed with sporting and cultural activities.
It’s part of the Community Games programme across the country, working in partnership with team Beds and Luton and organised by the Hockliffe Events Committee.
The Hockliffe Community Games will start with Zumba with local zumba instructor Lucy Taylor.
There will be something for everyone on the day with activities for all ages, including glitter tattoos by Sarah Hayman, the chance to have a go at archery, boxing with ACS Martial Arts , rounders, plus golf.
On sale throughout the day will be a tempting BBQ and the entertainment will be provided by Billy Crabtree and Leftover.
Community Games was created to give everyone up and down the country the chance to celebrate the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Inspired by the Games, Community Games was Legacy Trust UK’s idea, is now funded by the Government’s Social Action Fund, and is delivered by the County Sports Partnership Network and the YMCA.
