Stormtroopers invaded a quiet village on Saturday to help with fundraising efforts for a new playground.

Little ones could have their picture taken with storm troopers, Darth Vader himself, Princess Leia and Boba Fett.

It was part of fun on Redbourn Common that was organised by film fan and member of Star Wars costume group UK Garrison Rob Denehan, who lives in the village.

The event culminated with a screening of the original Star Wars movie, which has since been renamed A New Hope.

The ticketed event raised around £1,200 towards the project that aims to redevelop the East Common Play Area to provide a natural, all age and all ability area for children and families. A target of £75,000 has been set.
