Houghton Regis pancake race revival is a sizzling success

Have your say

There was no chance of the Houghton Regis Pancake Race falling flat, with an impressive 20 teams in the running for the Shrove Tuesday event.

Teams on the village green featured pancake power from schools, Nisa, The Children’s Society, Houghton Hall Park, the Recycled Teenagers, and Houghton Regis Town Council representatives – including Houghton mayor Councillor Peter Williams.

Town Crier Peter Hailes started each race, there was music from Mike Ruff on an accordion, and Regis the Lion was there, too. Teams of four flipped the pancakes while completing a short course.

The groups were timed and the winners from each category were awarded medals. Everyone taking part was given a special goodie bag.

Overall winners were Houghton Regis Academy Team D, who took home the trophy. Houghton Regis Town Council would like to thank everyone who took part and looks forward to seeing everyone again in next year’s race.
