Dunstable-based hospitality giant Whitbread has earned a fresh serving of success for its inspirational support for apprentices.

The company is among acclaimed firms in the annual City & Guilds Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers list.

In September, high praise was dished up for the team in a regional round of the National Apprenticeship Awards.

Whitbread, in Houghton Hall Business Park, was highly commended in the Macro Employer Of The Year category for the central eastern region.

The City & Guilds Top 100 list features firms who entered those national awards and displayed the highest standards of excellence in employing apprentices.

Patrick Dempsey, managing director of Whitbread Hotels and Restaurants, said: “We are delighted to have been included in the City & Guilds Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers list. At Whitbread we have a long history of helping young people further their careers through apprenticeships. Indeed, 250 years ago, our founder Sam Whitbread started out in business on a seven-year brewing apprenticeship.”
