A man suffered a ‘serious’ leg injury following a collision on the M1 northbound this morning
The incident, between two lorries and a car, forced police to close a section of the motorway between junctions 10 and 11.
Herts Air Ambulance was sent to the scene, taking a casualty to Royal London Hospital.
Two ambulances, a response car and a duty officer also attended the collision.
An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The man suffered a serious leg injury and following treatment by land and air ambulance crews, he was flown direct to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel for further care.”
A diversion is in operation via the A1081 and the A505– with congestion going back to junction 7 (Hemel Hempstead).
