Meet the new Community Support Officer who will be patrolling the streets of Dunstable and Houghton Regis as part of Beds Police’s new intake of staff.
Six new PCSOs have been stationed across Central Beds, with Diane Howells coming to Dunstable and Houghton Regis – where she will join the
current team of 12.
Diane moved from Carmarthenshire earlier this year and wanted a career which would put something back into the community.
She said: “I’ve always been very community-minded and back in South Wales I worked as a carer before moving to Beds in April.
“All the PCSOs have gone through a very intensive training period before moving to our respective areas and now I am really looking forward to getting out and about in Dunstable and Houghton Regis.”
Elsewhere in Central Beds, Diane is joined by fellow rookies Jade Weller, Emma Ward and Jessica Bircher in Leighton Buzzard, and Lucy Barnell and Joseph Passby – stationed in Ampthill.
Head of Beds policing team Tania Coulson said: “I’m delighted to welcome all of our new PCSOs to Central Beds and I’m sure that they are going to make a huge and very positive impact on the area.
“I would encourage everyone to stop and talk to them as they see them around the area so they can get to know their new patch and people really quickly.”
