The store manager of the new Morrisons in Houghton Regis welcomed the store’s first customers and said he wants the location to be an integral part of the town’s community.
The High Street supermarket was opened on Monday (November 12), creating 180 new jobs in the town.
Manager Mark Groves said: “We’re incredibly proud to mark the opening of the new store and thank the team who has worked hard to deliver a shopping space that is second to none.
“We wanted to create an experience that was different from other supermarkets; offering customers a fantastic range of fresh products at great value and excellent customer service.
“The reaction from our first customers has been incredibly positive, particularly to the quality and variety of fresh produce on offer as well as the fact that they can see their food being prepared by our highly skilled team.
“Having a café as part of the store will provide a much needed place for local community groups to meet as we want the store to very much become part of Houghton Regis.”
