Central Bedfordshire Council will receive £6,947,412 of New Homes Bonus money for 2014/15 as a result of building 4,061 new homes and bringing 514 empty homes back into use.
In total Central Beds Council has received just under £16million of New Homes Bonus money to date.
The figures were confirmed by the Department for Communities and Local Government last week.
South West Beds MP Andrew Selous said: “In the past there have been many understandable complaints that we got the new houses before we got the infrastructure needed for those houses like schools, doctors’ surgeries and connecting roads.
“I strongly support the New Homes Bonus allocations as they do ensure that local authorities who build new homes and bring empty homes back into use get the money they need for this crucial infrastructure.”
