An eight-year-old boy from Belarus could teach many grown-ups a thing or two about the true meaning of Christmas.
Little Sasha, who suffers from diabetes, was absolutely thrilled when he received a gaily-wrapped shoebox from Operation Christmas Child.
But he didn’t think twice when he heard a new patient crying quietly in the bed next to him.
In a totally selfless gesure, Sasha handed the distressed child his own shoebox and all the gifts it contained.
“Take it and remember someone loves you,” he whispered.
This is just one of many heartwarming stories about the vulnerable and needy Third World children who benefit from the annual Operation Christmas Child campaign.
Spokesman Alan Goodman said: “Herald&Post readers are renowned for their generosity and we would ask them to dig deep this festive season to help youngsters who may never have received a gift before.”
> Deadline is November 18. Drop-off points include ShoeZone in The Mall and Luton’s Christian Bookshop.
