Staff at Sainsbury’s Dunstable really did go that extra mile when they went back to school on Friday.
They were at Streetfield Middle School’s fun run in support of Sport Relief.
Employees from the customer services, clothing, commercial, counters and cafe ran with the children.
Streetfield pupils ran a total of 539 miles in 30 minutes, with each child averaging a mile-and-a-half .
A school spokesman said: “The pupils have all gone out of their way to support the charity and take part in a mixture of team and individual sports.
“A big thank you to the staff at Sainsbury’s Dunstable who have supported our afternoon. It was fantastic to see previous middle school pupils, from Streetfield and other middle schools, join in with the children and help support us in raising money for children both at home and abroad.
“A special thank you goes out to Jessica Clark, a Year 6 pupil, who helped set up the Streetfield - Sainbury’s link.”
Elaine Wilson from Sainsbury’s Dunstable said: “It was a lovely afternoon spent with the children and we were only too happy to go along and support Streetfield with Sport Relief.”
Sainsbury’s nationally handed over £6.5million on Friday night for Sport Relief from fundraising.
